Current and Former Students

Pablo Moreno-Yaeger (PhD Student)

Pablo is a Chilean PhD Candidate working on understanding how magma plumbing systems beneath volcanic arcs react to glaciation and deglaciation. To do that, he is integrating the 40Ar/39Ar, 3He, and 14C dating techniques to constrain the age of eruptions before, during, and after glaciation and coupling it with magma and mineral compositions. His research interests are investigating the magma dynamics and evolution through time using advanced igneous petrological techniques and geochronology. Much of his will will be part of the IF-AMPS project. Pablo’s Master thesis supplemental data and appendices can be downloaded here: MorenoYaeger_Appendices_Thesis.xlsx

Jack Stalla (MS Student)

Jack is a first year Master’s student. He earned a B.S. in Earth Sciences with a minor in Geographic Information Systems from The Ohio State University. His main research interests are volcanology, geochronology, and petrology. He is currently working on as part of the IF-AMPS project on Osorno in Chile to understand of the extraction of evolved melts from crystal mush in the shallow crust.

Ana Sotelo Romero (undergraduate)

Ana is undergraduate in Geoscience working on a senior thesis in the WiscAr Lab. Her interests are in 40Ar/39Ar geochronology, igneous petrology, and geochemistry. She is working to characterize pseudotachylyte samples from the main Himalayan thrust fault in Nepal for 40Ar/39Ar geochronology through in situ laser ablation.
